Researchers of REPAIR3D project have been busy applying their expertise and converting the use of the materials studied, to produce protective face shields to cover critical shortage in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals. Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summer School and Training related to Consumer Best Practices and Societal impact for circularity of materials, scheduled by the 14th and 15th July 2020, has been postpone for next summer 2021 (dates to be confirmed). Repair3D Project will organise this year instead a Webinar on the 14th July (11:00 14:00 CET).

The Webinar will include a number of lectures from academic and industrial experts, related to plastic circularity and recycling, manufacturing of plastics composites using 3D Printing Technology, and the use of plastics in packaging. Specific time will be devoted to participants’ questions and for an open discussion session.

Young researchers from industry and academia, undergraduate students, and post-graduate students (Masters and Ph.D. students) are encouraged to apply.  The participation is free of charge and all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Repair3D Partner, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) established the 3DP-NTUA Hub, to work on the preparation of face shields and other consumables, in order to support the healthcare workers in Greece, in collaboration with dedicated Covid-19 Hospitals, during the difficult fight against the pandemic. Repair3D Project had its 1st year review meeting hosted by IRT Jules Verne Technocampus Ocean in Nantes, on the 5th and 6th February, 2020.

Repair3D partners had the opportunity on these two-days meeting to present all Work Packages and discuss the progress of the project. The agenda included a guided tour of the Technocampus Ocean to visit to R&T facilities dedicated to additive manufacturing/metallic processes/robotics-cobotics activities, and a tour of the Technocampus Composites, to visit AIRBUS Technocentre and the R&T facilities dedicated to composites.

Several Repair3D Partners will attend the largest composites-focused trade show, JEC World 2021 held on 9-11 March at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre in Paris, France.  NTUA, ITENE, IRES, IRT Jules Verne, BIOG3D, EURECAT will have exhibition booths at this event.
