Researchers of REPAIR3D project have been busy applying their expertise and converting the use of the materials studied, to produce protective face shields to cover critical shortage in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals. All the activities REPAIR3D Project is doing to address the needs during this pandemic, have been mentioned in the EC coronavirus webpage, to read the full article, please follow this link.

Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summer School and Training related to Consumer Best Practices and Societal impact for circularity of materials, scheduled by the 14th and 15th July 2020, has been postpone for next summer 2021 (dates to be confirmed). Repair3D Project will organise this year instead a Webinar on the 14th July (11:00 14:00 CET).

The Webinar will include a number of lectures from academic and industrial experts, related to plastic circularity and recycling, manufacturing of plastics composites using 3D Printing Technology, and the use of plastics in packaging. Specific time will be devoted to participants’ questions and for an open discussion session.

Young researchers from industry and academia, undergraduate students, and post-graduate students (Masters and Ph.D. students) are encouraged to apply.  The participation is free of charge and all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

If you would like to receive more information, please send an email to: or follow this link to the Summer School Webinar dedicated website.

Repair3D Partner, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) established the 3DP-NTUA Hub, to work on the preparation of face shields and other consumables, in order to support the healthcare workers in Greece, in collaboration with dedicated Covid-19 Hospitals, during the difficult fight against the pandemic. Repair3D Project had its 1st year review meeting hosted by IRT Jules Verne Technocampus Ocean in Nantes, on the 5th and 6th February, 2020.

Repair3D partners had the opportunity on these two-days meeting to present all Work Packages and discuss the progress of the project. The agenda included a guided tour of the Technocampus Ocean to visit to R&T facilities dedicated to additive manufacturing/metallic processes/robotics-cobotics activities, and a tour of the Technocampus Composites, to visit AIRBUS Technocentre and the R&T facilities dedicated to composites.

Several Repair3D Partners will attend the largest composites-focused trade show, JEC World 2021 held on 9-11 March at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre in Paris, France.  NTUA, ITENE, IRES, IRT Jules Verne, BIOG3D, EURECAT will have exhibition booths at this event.

Repair3D has joined the Plastics Circularity Multiplier Cluster. This is an initiative which seeks to improve value chain collaboration and create cross cooperation between EU ProjectsRepair3D is one of the twenty one innovation projects, who have joined forces. The initiative aims at showcasing the synergies of EU-funded projects in the field of plastic circularity and coordinating communication and dissemination activities.

At November 6th, 2019, NTUA was invited to participate at the first DECOAT project workshop to present Repair3D project. The workshop was organized at ECOMONDO, at International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) boot, in Rimini, Italy. After initial session regarding DECOAT project, clustering session for ‘Circular Plastics’ followed. Crowdhelix initiative, Plastics Circularity Multiplier and linked projects have been presented, namely: React, MultiCycle and Repair3D. Afterwards, the networking session followed were participants have a technical discussion on recycling of plastics, coated plastics and textiles and benefits of clustering.

On Thursday, November 7th, 2019, NTUA participated with SMARTFAN, Repair3D and DECOAT projects at the Plastics Circularity Multiplier meeting held during the ECOMONDO fair. The meeting took place at the Savoia Hotel Rimini. Representatives from participating projects had an open discussion regarding the updates of current activities, planning next actions, Website, Infographics, the first year Core event and structure for the future.

On 3 June 2019, Repair3D participated together with other twelve ongoing European Projects on Plastics Circularity to explore possible synergies in a meeting organized by Demeto project and held at the EuPC offices in Brussels. During the workshop, the participants were invited to make a brief presentation of their projects, before focusing on the common regulatory and scale-up challenges. Keti Medarova-Bergstrom, Project adviser H2020 Eco-innovation-EASME, was also present at the meeting and provided valuable input for future collaboration and synergies.
